The Cast & Characters
(Warning: The following
summaries may contain spoilers as they are kept up-to-date)
Actor:
Kiefer Sutherland

Character:
Jack Bauer
Summary: After being tortured for
twenty months in a Chinese prison, Jack is returned to the American
government who trades him to a known terrorist named Fayed. Fayed wants
revenge, blaming Jack for the death of his brother in a Beirut attack
years ago. In exchange, Fayed gives the U.S. the location of the
suspected terrorist Assad, who they believe is responsible for the
current bombings on American soil. Jack is prepared to give up his own
life to save his country. As Fayed tortures Jack, he admits that he is
the one who is attacking America. Assad was only trying to broker peace.
Armed with that information, Jack escapes from Fayed’s grasp.
Free from Fayed’s underground hideout, Jack breaks into a car to use
the cell phone inside. He calls CTU and the President to let them know
that Fayed is behind the bombings. Assad is innocent. Nobody believes
him, and they continue with their plan to take out Assad. Jack uses the
phone to plug in the coordinates he overheard Fayed say was Assad’s
location. He goes there and warns Assad what is about to happen. They
manage to get out before the safe house is bombed. One of Assad’s men
was a traitor, and gives up a location where Fayed’s men are meeting.
Jack and Assad head there to find two men about to attack a subway car.
Jack throws the suicide bomber out of the car, saving the passengers.
Assad follows the other man, who will hopefully lead to Fayed.
Jack and Assad follow Masheer the handler and cause an accident so that
Assad will have to drive Masheer to wherever he is going. This allows
Jack and CTU to follow them to a storage facility. When Masheer sees the
TAC teams, he blows up the storage locker in a suicide bombing.
Jack reluctantly accepts the President’s request to lead the search
for Fayed and the nuclear scientist. When a woman calls emergency
services about her family being taken hostage and she mentions Fayed’s
name, Jack goes there and gets the address of Fayed’s safe house. Jack
tries to convince Curtis to work with Assad even though Curtis has a
history with the former terrorist. Curtis becomes angry when the
President grants a pardon to Assad. Curtis is about to shoot Assad but
Jack intervenes by killing Curtis in order to save Assad’s life. Jack
becomes emotionally distraught and tells Buchanan that he is quitting
the mission. Jack looks on in horror as the nuclear bomb explodes in the
sky.
When Jack sees the mushroom cloud he has no choice but to get back to
work. A Fayed contact is found to have links to Jack’s father,
Phillip, whom Jack hasn’t seen in years. When Jack cannot find Phillip
to question him, he contacts his brother Graem. Jack, who has a bad
history with Graem, threatens to torture him unless he gives up where
Phillip is. Jack does not know that Graem was one of the conspirators
who had been controlling Logan almost two years ago.
Actor: Mary Lynn Rajskub

Character: Chloe O'Brian
Summary: Chloe has reunited with her
ex Morris and she asks him to try to be nicer to his CTU superior, Milo.
Chloe is horrified when she finds out that Jack is being given up to
Fayed. Morris gets access to a non-government satellite so that she can
track Jack, but when Fayed discovers he is being watched he threatens to
cancel the deal with the Americans. Chloe is ordered by Nadia and
Buchanan to shut down this outside feed. Morris consoles Chloe, who is
convinced that Jack is dead.
Chloe sees on the satellite that Jack helped Assad escape from the CTU
attack. They are both alive. Buchanan enlists her to track any chatter
on Fayed, and she uncovers that Fayed is really the terrorist culprit.
Chloe recovers a file from the laptop in Masheer’s storage unit. It is
the schematics for a suitcase nuke.
When Morris and Milo cannot get along, Chloe points out that they are
acting like jealous children because she had dated Milo before getting
back together with Morris. The two men are embarrassed and retreat from
their fighting.
Morris comforts Chloe, who is overwhelmed by the news of Curtis’s
death.
Actor:
James Morrison

Character:
Bill Buchanan
Summary: The
Chinese hand over Jack to Buchanan, who is shocked by Jack’s physical
and mental state. He drops Jack off at the location specified by Fayed.
Buchanan updates his wife Karen, who is now working at the White House.
When Chloe uncovers that Jack helped Assad escape CTU’s attack and
that Jack averted a bomb on a Los Angeles subway, Buchanan is convinced
that Jack was telling the truth about Assad’s innocence.
After CTU discovers that one of the Palmdale prisoners is the nuclear
scientist that Fayed needs to build his suitcase bombs, Buchanan goes
over the President’s head and stops the release of the prisoners.
When Jack kills Curtis in the line of duty, Buchanan tries to assuage
him. Yet he cannot convince Jack to remain as head of the mission. The
nuclear bomb goes off at Fayed’s safe house and CTU gets word that
there are four more.
Despite his misgivings about aligning with a known terrorist, Buchanan
works with Assad and gets information about a Russian general who might
have supplied Fayed with the nukes. The general is linked to Jack’s
father, and Buchanan breaks this news to Jack.
Actor: Jayne Atkinson

Character: Karen Hayes
Summary: As the terrorist
attacks increase in America, National Security Advisor Karen argues with
White House Chief of Staff Lennox over his proposal to create detention
facilities to house Muslim suspects. Her staff has named Assad as the
chief culprit and she recommends to the President that they take Assad
out.
Karen refuses to believe Jack’s story that Fayed is guilty of
terrorizing America and that Assad is the one interested in peace. Karen
persuades the President that they should continue with plans to attack
Assad. Evidence surfaces that Jack was right all along.
Karen and Lennox agree that they should not be giving in to Fayed, but
Wayne thinks that they have no other option than to release the
prisoners per Fayed’s demands.
Despite Lennox’s argument, Karen advises the President to lock in
formal cooperation with Assad by granting him a pardon.
Karen relays information about the four suitcase bombs that are still at
large. She argues with Lennox over the prospect of hastily acting
against potential terrorist countries.
Actor:
DB Woodside

Character: President Wayne Palmer
Summary: Wayne
is forced to negotiate with the Chinese to release Jack so that he can
turn him over to a known terrorist named Fayed. In return, Fayed will
give the U.S. the location of Assad, the man suspected of being
responsible for the multiple bombings currently going on. Wayne can
barely express his remorse to Jack for what he is asking. Wayne has no
choice but to order Assad’s assassination in hopes it will deter more
attacks on America.
Despite Jack’s personal plea that Assad is innocent, Wayne listens to
his advisors and proceeds with attacking Assad based on Fayed’s
bargain. Yet evidence proves that Fayed is behind the terrorist
bombings, and Wayne realizes that Jack was right.
When CTU does not capture Fayed, Wayne has no choice but to release a
batch of enemy combatant prisoners per Fayed’s demands.
After receiving confirmation that Assad does want to work towards peace,
Wayne grants him an official pardon. Yet he and his advisors are still
not fully convinced that Assad’s motives are genuine. The White House
team watches in horror when the suitcase nuke detonates at Fayed’s
safe house.
Despite some of his advisors arguing for aggressive tactics against all
the countries who might have funded Fayed, Wayne insists on finding the
real enemy. Wayne goes on television to make a speech about the nuclear
blast.
Actor: Regina King

Character: Sandra Palmer
Summary: As the attorney for
the Islamic-American Alliance, Sandra is vehemently opposed to the
FBI’s unfounded search of her office personnel files. She calls her
brother, President Wayne Palmer, to complain that his aide Lennox has
allowed all civil liberties to be violated during the unsettling
terrorist attacks. When the FBI produces a warrant, Sandra erases all
the employee records out of spite. She and her boyfriend, I.A.A. leader
Walid, are arrested.
Sandra apologizes to Walid for getting him arrested. Wayne orders her
release and she demands one for Walid as well, but Wayne will not
accommodate her.
Sandra attempts to contact her brother, but Lennox intercepts her call.
She blames him for both Walid’s arrest and the current erosion of
civil liberties. Sandra vows to publicly blame the Administration if it
means protecting Walid. She passes on something Walid overheard in the
prison to the FBI because he is convinced it is related to the terrorist
attacks.
The FBI wires Sandra’s boyfriend Walid so that he can pick up more
information from the inmates. Sandra is furious that they would put
Walid in jeopardy, but Walid is able to earn the trust of Fayed’s
followers inside the prison.
