I-play have signed a multiyear contract with FOX to develop a series of mobile java games, wallpapers and ring tones based on the show.

In the first game, an encrypted message sent to the North Korean consulate is intercepted by CTU agent Chloe O'Brian that implicates the North Koreans in a possible attack on the U.S.A. The North Korean government refutes their involvement in any such operation and adds that any action taken against their people or their consulate regarding these outlandish accusations will be seen as an act of war. Using your "Spy Phone" you will contact, assign, and guide Jack Bauer and other CTU agents through a series of mini-games and puzzles. But choose wisely – the clock is ticking and each mission and decision you make affects how the story unfolds! Can you discover who is behind the threat and stop them before it's too late?

In the second game, CTU headquarters is under siege and all of the agents are being held hostage by terrorists! The NOC list has been compromised and a fellow agent is down. You must infiltrate the terrorists using the sniping and computer skills of Curtis and Chloe. Regain control of CTU and begin your hunt for the list, protecting the identities of your fellow agents. The clock is ticking…

Official Site Trailer Press Release

Players take on the role of CTU Agent Parker, racing time to collect clues and win on-screen "mini-game challenges." Each game begins with a terrorist act; the CTU agents are then briefed and given several clues regarding the terrorists' full plans. Each player decides which clues to follow, knowing that some will be dead ends or red herrings. The first player to identify and stop a threat to national security wins. Throughout the game, the DVD also acts as a timer, counting down the 24 hours to the terrorist attack that the players are working to prevent. A "virtual CTU office" allows players to analyze data. Future expansions are promised, adding new cases to be solved. Pack includes DVD, game board, game cards, label sheet and player tokens.

“A true interactive experience is about game play, not trivia. For example, it isn’t about Season 1 or Season 2; it’s about you stopping a terrorist threat.”

THE ROOKIE

Degree Men has announced an extensive relationship with Fox Broadcasting Company's award-winning television series, '24,' that includes television advertising, original online content, as well as deep retail cross-promotions.

This effort will feature:

--  National television advertising that mirrors the look and feel of '24'
--  Online short films that follow the adventures of Jason Blaine, a
    rookie at CTU
--  "Day Zero," a flash-animated series prequel that will delve into never-
before-seen events that took place before the series began
--  In-store cross promotions with '24' DVD releases
--  Unique interactive experiences at a new website, www.CTUrookie.com

In conjunction with the launch of Season 6, America will be introduced to "The Rookie," a series of short online films that follow the adventures of the newest member of CTU. The rookie is Jason Blaine, a character who will star in two different storylines, "Coffee Run" and "Get This To... " that will premiere in their entirety exclusively at www.CTUrookie.com. Additionally, each short film will be turned into a series of episodic national television commercials that end with a "24-esque" cliffhanger.

Both long-time and casual fans of the show will recognize that "The Rookie" follows the signature style and high-tension situations of '24.' Rodney Charters, ASC, CSC, who has directed past episodes of '24' and is the director of photography, directed the films. Various members of '24's' key production crew and stunt coordination teams also participated in the production of the two films. The short films, along with the series of national commercials, were created and produced by MindShare Entertainment and Science + Fiction.

At the conclusion of Season 6, Degree Men will present "Day Zero," an animated prequel to '24' that will delve into the events that took place before the series began. "Day Zero" will be produced by Icebox, a digital content studio specializing in animation, and will be available exclusively online beginning in May 2007.

For more information, visit www.CTUrookie.com. The site provides access to exclusive content, including hi-definition versions of "The Rookie" and other CTU rookie interactive experiences.

"24: Conspiracy" is a series of 24 sixty-second "mobisodes" available exclusively on the Vodafone cellular phone network reaching 23 European countries. The mobisodes are based on the popular TV series and star Beverly Bryant as Susan Walker, Dylan Bruce as Martin Kail, and Steve Kramer as James Sutton. 24: The House Special Subcommittee's Findings At CTU

Last season, CIA agent Jack Bauer, played by Golden Globe award-winning actor Keifer Sutherland, had us glued to our TVs and cursing the time clock as he uncovered a plot to assassinate presidential nominee, David Palmer. With just 24 hours to identify the killer, Bauer also had to deal with the kidnapping of his wife and daughter and the existence of a mole at the agency.

This season he's at it again, helping President David Palmer save Los Angeles from nuclear ravage.

Lest you think Jack had some down time between life-altering experiences, check out 24: The House Special Subcommittees Findings at CTU. It's a new book providing a riveting account of Jack's grueling appearance before our government's most inquiring minds during their probe into alleged wrongdoings at CTU that first fateful 24 hour period. The testimony from these closed hearings was leaked to investigative journalist Marc Cerasini, who then ran with it to publisher HarperCollins.

With some of the finest reporting seen since Woodward's coverage of the Pentagon Papers, this book contains:

Jack Bauer's complete Grand Jury Testimony
Press statements from President-elect David Palmer
Transcribed debriefings with other key CTU agents
Previously sealed files on Bauer's related undercover act6ivities
The arrest, detainment and transport records for Victor Drazen
Teri Bauer's medical records
Autopsy reports
Campaign finance records
Commentary from the Beltway's most celebrated political pundits
Theories as to how and why key players within CTU turned.

A Day In The Life: The Unofficial And Unauthorised Guide to 24

Have you ever had one of those days...?

24 has been nothing short of a television industry phenomena on both sides of the Atlantic. We've never seen anything quite like this before. A series told in 24 episodes, and in real-time. It spans one day in the life of a US Federal Agent attempting to stop a determined and complex cabal of terrorists from assassinating a presidential candidate. At the same time, he must try to find, and free, his kidnapped wife and daughter.

This, then, is A Day in the Life. Of Jack Bauer, that is. Bauer, as played stoically, though with occasional moments of ultraviolence, by the magnificent Kiefer Sutherland, is the key to 24's ultimate success. An everyman-yet-superman flawed hero, facing insurmountable odds and determined and well-resourced foes. Someone with only his wits, his integrity, his plethora of Bondian gadgets and his abilities as a one-man killing machine to keep him going. 24 has literally everything that a perfect modernist thriller should. Conspiracy theory, political intrigue, dysfunctional family values, occasional flashes of very black humour, fashionable Los Angeles locations and testosterone coming out of its nostrils.

24is extraordinary, dangerous, high-octane, sexy television, cleverly put together to maximise the breathlessly clock-watching structure of its format. It's Die Hard meets James Bond meets JFK. It features elements from everybody's favourite TV shows and movies of the last couple of decades and more twists and turns than a day at the Grand Prix. To say that 24 had its audience on the edge of its seat for over six months is, for once, not a case of TV-industry hyperbole.

Also, and this is very important, the series has a very interesting audience demographic with something of an intellectual crossover to The West Wing. (A similar political theme marbles both shows. It was no surprise that in Britain at least, the two have, whether by accident or design, been scheduled to follow one another on Sunday nights.) There is also a shared audience with series like The X-Files (all the Black Helicopter-crowd just love 24). Put simply, all sorts of different people - normal people, at that! - watch 24 for many different reasons. But, ultimately, for one reason. It's fantastic telly.

24 was a huge critical success in the US from the moment the first episode was broadcast in November 2001. Viewing figures were somewhat disappointing to begin with but grew as the season progressed towards its staggering climax in May 2002. The series actually started a bidding war for the UK broadcast rights, which ended when the BBC acquired it. BBC2 were then rewarded with an audience of around 3.5 million viewers watching each episode, much critical acclaim and the series topping the Radio Times readers' poll for Favourite Series. A DVD release in the UK in August knocked The Lord of the Rings off the top of the charts! The series has also been successfully broadcast in Canada, Australia, France and Germany along with several other countries.

A New Six-Issue Mini Series 24: NIGHTFALL Is Currently In Production

Following on the success of previous 24 offerings-including 24 Stories and 24: Midnight Sun-IDW Publishing is presenting 24: Nightfall, an all-new six-issue mini series featuring everybody's favorite Federal Agent-Jack Bauer.

If you thought Jack Bauer had rough days started with the first season of 24, think again. 24: Nightfall is a prequel to the on-going hit Fox television series. Before the clock started ticking on season one, Jack Bauer was the head of an elite Special Forces team sent to take down the mass murderer Victor Drazen. Not an easy mission by any means, especially in the war-torn former Yugoslavia. Events quickly spiral out of control, as the hunters become the hunted—and the true facts of the pivotal Operation: Nightfall are revealed.

24: Nightfall is a six-issue mini series premiering in November and is written by J.C. Vaughn and Mark L. Haynes, the team that brought you 24: Midnight Sun, and with art by Jean Diaz.

IDW: Why tell a story that takes place before the timeline already established by 24 the television series?

J.C. Vaughn: Good question, but this timeline was established by the series. The events of Day One (Season One) take place two years to the day after this mission. What happened that day in Jack Bauer's life (and Senator David Palmer's, too) was Victor Drazen's revenge for the events that are the backbone of our story.

Mark L. Haynes: From a storytelling standpoint, this mini-series is the "cause" that goes along with the devastating "effects" that Season One has for Jack Bauer and the other characters. From a fan's viewpoint, this story is being told in order to answer the all-important question of "why?" Why is Victor Drazen out to destroy David Palmer and Jack Bauer? Why does Jack act the way he does? The comics can explore all that.

IDW: What are the constraints of writing a story based on a well-established property such as 24? And what liberties due you feel that you have writing 24 within the comic book medium?

MLH: Far from a constraint, a well-established property allows substantially more freedom. All good stories are based, in large measure, on the motivations of the characters. After five seasons of the show, our writing is governed by the simple question: "What would Jack Bauer do?" From there, the comic book medium allows us to show Jack operating in a wider world. While his actions certainly have global impact, comics allows us to take Jack out of the L.A. area and drop him into any situation to reinforce just how good he is at his job.

JCV: Rather than think of constraints, it's more fun to take the situation as a positive. 24 is the one comic I don't have to sketch before I script. The visual paradigms of the show are well established in the readers' minds, too, so we're not re-inventing the wheel here. Mark and I plot it very, very tightly, because frankly as fans of the show that's what we would demand if we were reading it instead of writing it. Once we're plotted, that frees us to do one thing-concentrate on the craft of writing, creating the best additions to the world of 24 that we can.

IDW: What is it that makes Jack Bauer "tick," so to speak? What separates him from the countless other tough-guy maverick heroes of page and screen?

JCV: It's like those internet jokes: Jack Bauer once lost his car keys and tortured himself for a half hour until he confessed where the keys were. And he makes onions cry. Seriously, though, Jack Bauer is a relentless, purpose-driven patriot who knows that there are scary people out there who want to kill us simply because we're American and/or they can make some money doing it.

MLH: While there are similarities between Jack Bauer and characters like John McClane (Die Hard) and Martin Riggs (Lethal Weapon), Jack differs in that he's not a loner when it comes to a mission, and he is not inclined to take chances if there is any other possible way to solve a crisis.

IDW: So why is it that no one seems to have a worse day than Jack Bauer? What is it that Jack could have possibly done in a previous life to deserve such horrible periods of 24 hours?

MLH: There are people that have worse days than Jack. They're the insurance adjusters that show up the next day.

JCV: Jack is a high caliber problem solver. The problem with solving difficult problems effectively is that you generally are then given even more difficult problems to solve. Nobody sends the lady at the DMV, whose main decision is whether to look put out or just disinterested, to deal with the terrorists who have just taken over the In and Out Burger down the street from Meltdown Comics. They send Jack Bauer. Or one of us, but only because it's near a comic shop.

24: ONE SHOT

Fox Television's "24" is known for its unique format where each episode of the series equates one hour worth of story, with a full season detailing the events of a terrorist threat played out in a single day. Focusing on the Los Angeles branch of the Counter Terrorism Unit, "24" is filled with high action and suspense. The show stars Kiefer Sutherland as CTU agent Jack Bauer, a character that's been dubbed by many fans as the "manliest man alive" due to the sheer number of times he's escaped imminent death. This July, Jack Bauer gets his chance to prove his worth on the printed page.

"24: One Shot" is a 48-page, full color, squarebound graphic novella coming from IDW Publishing this July. In keeping with tradition, the comic itself will keep to the unique time format, where two pages of printed story will equal one hour of time. "24: One Shot" is written by J.C. Vaughn and Mark L. Haynes of "Battlestar Galactica" fame with art by "CSI: Miami" artist Renato Guedes.

"24" joins a number of other high-profile licensed properties at IDW, including television programs "The Shield" and "CSI" and the film "Underworld."

In "24: One Shot," CTU agent Jack Bauer has to protect a beautiful and deadly terrorist for twenty-four hours, but after an attack by her former friends, he has only one bullet left in his gun. Will Jack save the day? Viewers of the television show know that with "24," no one is ever safe.

"We at IDW are big fans of the series 24," Editor-in-Chief Jeff Mariotte said in a press release. "We had some difficulty at first trying to figure out how the ticking clock element, so crucial to the show, would work on the printed page. But J.C. Vaughn and Mark Haynes had some ideas, and they convinced us that it could work. We teamed them up with Renato Guedes, who does some of the best actor likenesses ever, and we think the book will be every bit as entertaining as the TV series."

24 STORIES

Following this summer’s successful 24: One Shot, IDW Publishing will return to the world of Jack Bauer and CTU in early 2005 with 24 Stories, the second one-shot based on the hit TV show.

24 Stories answers some of the questions that have been in the minds of fans of the popular Fox show since the start of the third season. In their second 24 tale, returning writers J. C. Vaughn and Mark Haynes tell a tale about Jack’s early days undercover with the Salazar drug cartel. Chechen separatists have taken control of a high-rise in Los Angeles and Jack must find a way to take them down without blowing his hard-earned cover.

24 Stories follows the unique format of the first 24 one-shot, presenting a different hour of Jack’s day with every two-page spread in the book. This ticking-clock method only adds to the story’s tension, as Vaughn and Haynes present Jack and CTU with an ever-more-desperate and tense situation.

“Jack Bauer is one of the most compelling characters on television or in comics,” said Mark L. Haynes. “This story highlights how the medium of comics is perfect for the continued exploration of Jack’s universe, providing current fans and new readers alike with all the twists and turns they expect from 24.”

Co-writer J.C. Vaughn added, “The first time out, we started with Jack’s first day on the job at CTU. Now we’ve got him hip-deep in drug addiction and caught in the middle of an unrelated and very bad hostage situation, so it’s just another average day at the office for Jack Bauer and company.”

This time around, artist Manny Clark add his craftsman’s touch to 24, offering a photo-realistic style that exudes action and emotion with every panel.

24: MIDNIGHT SUN

Summer is coming in a couple of months. This means sun, picnics, and, unfortunately, hiatus for most of our favorite television shows. Loyal viewers of quality programs will be forced to suffer through reruns and whatever reality-TV fluff the networks care to air. Thankfully, IDW Publishing will help alleviate some of our pain by publishing "24: Midnight Sun" this July. CBR News contacted the writers of this one-shot - J. C. Vaughn and Mark L. Haynes - to find out what new crisis has Jack Bauer running against the clock this time.

To begin with, this is actually Vaughn and Haynes' third outing with the "24" series. They have previously written IDW's "24: One Shot" and "24 Stories," both of which used a "real-time" approach of every two comic book pages equaling one hour of story time. For this latest tale though, the writers seemed pleased to inform us that they were no longer bound to the confines of this gimmick.

"Writing '24: Midnight Sun' was considerably easier because we made the commitment to get away from the strict two-pages-per-hour formula and let the events dictate what was going on," J.C. Vaughn told CBR News. "We stuck to it where it fit, but otherwise it went out the window. There's a great relationship between comics and TV or film, but they're not the same thing."

Co-Writer Mark L. Haynes agreed, saying "This book was such fun to do because we were no longer bound to this arbitrary formula. I used to joke that the only car chase we could have at that rate would be Jack chasing O.J. in the white Bronco."

Thus far, each "24" comic has examined a day in Jack's life that would impact events in the TV series. This new series continues with that theme. "'24: Midnight Sun' is set during the years between Season Two and Season Three," said Haynes. "President Palmer has opened the ANWR (Arctic National Wildlife Refuge) to experimental drilling and some people are up in arms. Jack is undercover with a group of environmental activists in Alaska, trying to separate the true blue activists from a subgroup of eco-terrorists. Chase Edmonds, his partner in Season Three of the show, is his back-up. The eco-terrorists are planning a huge, world-changing attack. Jack and Chase have to stop them."

If you don't follow "24" and are concerned that you might not be able to follow the story, the writers indicated there is no need to worry. Vaughn told CBR News, "It's steeped in the language of the show, so the fan is going to get more out of it than a casual reader, but we're writing for everyone." Haynes elaborated by explaining, "We follow the show's lead and include a 'Previously on 24' section at the head of our scripts for just that reason. In addition, we include a lot of background in the dialogue so that folks can find out as they read."

When telling stories about established characters, it helps to have writers who are fans of the source material. This is definitely true in the case of Vaughn and Haynes. "J.C. and I were roommates at the time '24' premiered, and I wasn't that into the show. When he got the (Season One) DVD's, I watched them and became hooked," Haynes said. "We really thought hard about the concept until we hit upon the fact that the 'real-time' approach is just a gimmick and one that people don't really tune in to the show or buy the graphic novel for. What they are looking for is what we try to provide: cutting-edge, hard-hitting, relentless storytelling that is true to the universe and the characters. Once we came to that realization, finding the right company to bring it to comics was the next step. That company was IDW."

Vaughn continued, "At the time we pitched the story concept (for the first one-shot), IDW had a big hit with 'CSI' and we thought '24' would be a good fit for them. We liked the quality of their stuff. Jeff Mariotte, prince among men, was their Editor-In-Chief at the time and he liked the concept of the pitch and took it to their publisher, Ted Adams, who also liked it. We've still never done the original story we pitched them, strangely enough."

"24: Midnight Sun" also reunites the two writers with a previous collaborator, artist Renato Guedes ("24: One Shot"). They have both said the art they've seen thus far is fantastic. "Even better than his first work," Vaughn said.

In addition to this newest "24" adventure, both writers sound as though they're keeping very busy with upcoming projects. Vaughn is the Executive Editor of Gemstone Publishing, and told CBR News, "We just released the 35th edition of 'The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide.' Our Little Lulu editions sold out the first two days they were on sale and the Iron Man editions are selling briskly. Now we're working on 'The Official Price Guide To Disney Collectibles.' My self-published romance comic, '21st Century Romances,' is at the printer now and should be out very shortly. The fourth and concluding issue of 'Shi: Ju-Nen' is either off to the printer or will be in a couple of days. And I'll have two 'McCandless & Company' comics out this year - one a graphic novel with Gene Gonzales and the other a collection of short stories with a variety of artists."

Haynes added, "I should have finished my script for J.C.'s '21st Century Romances' by now, and I probably would have if I had been listening more closely. I thought he said 'Twenty 1st Century Romances' and ended up doing this biblical kind of thing before I realized the mistake. Oh, well."
